We have a couple varieties of currants available for purchase. Here’s some information on them.
We also have red currants this year . I'll add those soon.
WHITE IMPERIAL CURRANTS - With a delectable sweetness and pearly, translucent color, Imperial White may be one of the best currants on the market for fresh-from-the bush eating. Sweeter than others, this unique variety is also high in vitamin C, making it an ideal snack. Grows to 4 ft. tall, self-pollinating. Bareroot. Zones 3-5. Very hardy. The fruit is beautiful on the plant and the plants have great fall colors. Lovely. A kid pleaser for sure.
BLACK CONSORT CURRANTS - A handsome fruiting hedge. Medium-sized fruit forms in clusters on this compact, upright bush. Fruit is high in vitamin C and can be eaten fresh, but is traditionally used for prized and popular preserves. Also ideal for juicing, wine, and fruit liqueurs. Plant tolerates shade. Cold-hardy. Ripens in June or July. Self-pollinating. Wait until these are dark dark black and they are so so yummy and sweet. They're a beautiful bush too. One that's amazing fall foliage. No one would even think you're growing berries, it's a GEORGOUS landscape bush.
