My two favorite cakes ever were so different. One was a simple Swedish cake with fruit that my friend Isabelle brought to my house, on a year we didn't celebrate my birthday. But she remembered. The other was for my 40th—a work of art by my baker friend Murial, with colors that took my breath away. Two very different cakes, but both were delicious. And both made me feel so incredibly loved.
