Candle measures 3x3 and weighs 7.7 ounces
It was usually a rush, getting the tree up. It meant we got to enjoy the lights and the treats made with the tradition, that much sooner. Grandma's hands were slow. Little Hannah often commented on her veins and the worn places. "Oh the stories these hands can tell" Grandma mused. And then, she would tell them. She would tell those stories and more, to teach the little children around the tree. There was always a gospel message or a moral in there somewhere.
She loved Nativity themed items best of all. She collected all kinds. Wooden, metal, fine art prints, ones made out of play dough by little hands as well as ones from all over the world. She pulled out a round yellow ball. It was a candle, with soft motif's of a nativity. It was one of my favorite. It was a beeswax candle. And it never did get lit, it sat with the other sets and the other kids and I would take turns, holding it and smelling it. It developed "bloom" she called it, a natural harmless coating that gave the depth and definition. I loved how it made it look older and prettier. I loved the little reminders everywhere of Jesus Christ, his birth and our loving God who gave his son.
